POSITION: Locally Engaged Employee (Expatriate) Designated Level 6
POSITION TITLE: Visa and Citizenship Decision Maker
The Visa and Citizenship Section of the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City is recruiting for vacancies for Expatriate Locally Engaged Designated Officers (LEDs). The positions will be filled on a 12 month contract basis with the possibility of extension, in line with the conditions of employment applicable to locally engaged staff. Although most positions are full-time, the Consulate-General is also interested in applications from suitably qualified persons who may be interested in part-time or short term work which becomes available from time to time.
The specific duties of the positions may include:
- Assessing and deciding applications for Australian visas in accordance with lawful decision making and natural justice principles;
- Responding to client requests and enquiries in accordance with DIAC’s Client Service Charter and case management procedures;
- Mentoring Locally Engaged Vietnamese national Staff in lawful decision making and writing decision records;
- Operating computer systems and maintaining immigration databases; and
- Preparing correspondence and decision records.
The positions are open to nationals of Australia, New Zealand, Britain, Canada, the USA, France and Germany only. While not essential, the ability to obtain an Australian security clearance is desirable.
Selection for these positions will be judged against the attached Selection Criteria and the names and contact details of two referees must be included with the application.

The salary offered is $ 2,338.00 USD per month. Please note that all relocation costs are at the expense of the successful candidate including travel, shipment of personal effects and accommodation. You will also be required to arrange your own travel and health insurance.
