RESIDENT RETURN VISAS

This information is provided to assist applicants in completing the visa application process in Vietnam. Applicants must also access the information regarding permanent residency in Australia on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) main website.

This information is intended for Australian permanent residents wishing to return to Australia.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED: The following is a list of documents that should be submitted in support of a Resident Return visa application. This list specifies the minimum documentation only and is not exhaustive. It is open to applicants to submit any documentation they wish which they believe will assist in the assessment of their application.

 Form 1085 - Application for a Resident Return Visa (RRV) or replacement evidence of a RRV

 Signed Passport. Expired and unsigned passports are not acceptable

Applicants who have spent less than 730 days in Australia in the last 5 years:
 Evidence of current Australian permanent residency, former Australian permanent residency or former Australian citizenship
 Passports and travel documents showing all travel to and from Australia in the last 5 years
 Evidence of all visas held for Australia in the last 5 years
 Evidence of substantial business, cultural, employment or personal ties with Australia which are of benefit to Australia
 Evidence of any compelling and/or compassionate reasons for any absence from Australia
 If applicable, evidence that the applicant is a member of the family unit of a person who:
- has been granted either a Subclass 155 or 157 visa and that visa is still in effect; or
- has lodged an application for a Return (Residence) (Class BB) visa either with the applicant or separately.

Applicants who departed Australia without a valid Permanent Resident or Resident Return visa:
 Details of the date and carrier on which you last departed Australia (flight number for airplane and/or name of ship as appropriate). Please note that departures from Australia more than 20 years ago will take additional time to finalise all checks with Australia.
