VISITING ACADEMIC VISAS

Please note that from 15 October 2007, all applicants aged 18 and over are required to sign the Australian Values Statement when applying for selected visas. The Australian Values Statement is a new visa requirement that requires applicants to confirm that they will respect the Australian way of life and obey the laws of Australia before being granted a visa.

For most visa applicants the Australian Values Statement is included in the application package.

For those who use old forms/packages that do not include the Australian Values Statement, they are required to sign the “Short” Australian Values Statement (Form 1282). Form 1282 can be obtained at the Australian Visa Application Centres, the Visa and Citizenship Section of the Australian Embassy in Hanoi or the Visa and Citizenship Office of the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City.

This information is provided to assist applicants in completing the visa application process in Vietnam. Applicants must also read the information regarding visiting Australia on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) main website.
