VISITING ACADEMIC VISAS
This information is provided to assist applicants in completing the visa application process in Vietnam. Applicants must also read the information regarding visiting Australia on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) main website.

This information is intended for academics or researchers in tertiary or research institutions in overseas countries who wish to visit Australia to observe or participate in research projects at the invitation of an Australian tertiary institution or research organisation.
This information must be read in conjunction with the Vietnam General Information sheet which provides details on lodging a visa application in Vietnam.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED: The following is a list of documents that should be submitted in support of a Visiting Academic visa application. This list specifies the minimum documentation only and is not exhaustive. It is open to applicants to submit any documentation they wish which they believe will assist in the assessment of their application.

| Form 147 - Application for a temporary residence visa (non-business) | |
| Two passport size photographs (4cm x 6cm). Photographs must not be more than 6 months old | |
| Details of Relatives Form | |
| Signed Passport. Expired and unsigned passports are not acceptable | |
| Certified copy of all pages of current Household Registration Book | |
| Certified copy of Birth Certificate | |
| Original Curriculum Vitae (CV) certified by the local authority. Applicants employed by state-owned agencies/enterprises should have their CV verified by the employer. CV must not be more than 6 months old. | |
| Certified copy of Marriage Certificate, if married | |
| If working - full details of your work including your title, work address and work phone number and a letter from your employer confirming your leave | |
| An invitation from the central administrative authority of the relevant institution, eg. the Registrar or Chief Executive Officer. This invitation should indicate the period for which the invitation is extended, your proposed activities in Australia and proposed remuneration, if any | |
| Diplomatic and Official Passport holders: | |
| Third Person Note from the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi or the Department of External Relations in HCMC providing permission to travel as a diplomatic/official passport holder |
