35th Anniversary Photographic Exhibition and Gala Event
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and Vietnam, the Australian Embassy in Hanoi held two major cultural events on the same day - 26 February 2008 - the date of the 35th anniversary.
The Embassy curated an exhibition of photographic images capturing important historical moments and the strong people-to-people links between the two countries. The exhibition, Australia - Vietnam: Then & Now, was opened in Hanoi on 26 February and ran for 10 days. The exhibition was also shown in Ho Chi Minh City and regional centres.
The Embassy also held a Gala Event with more than 600 invited guests at the Hanoi Opera House. The evening's festivities included traditional Vietnamese foods and fine Australian wines, followed by a collaborative operatic performance by famous Australian soprano, Annalisa Kerrigan, and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
