International telephone call costs are expensive in Vietnam and normal reverse charge calls are not available to foreigners in most parts of the country. However, Telstra has a contract with Vietnam's International Telecommunication Company to provide the Telstra Home Country Direct (HCD) service – a reverse charge call facility. To access the HCD service in Vietnam, callers must have with them a valid telephone card from Telstra. This card should be arranged BEFORE departure from Australia. Dial 12061111 from any land line and follow the instructions. Calls are charged (in Australia) to cardholders at Telstra operator assisted rates.
